To all current speedcar drivers and genuine new car (Chiili bowl type midget) drivers , we will be having a meeting this Sunday so we may discuss/establish a set of rules of which will enable us to get this class on the track and racing for points. Until this happens this class will only be an exhibition class.

Before we all started production on our midgets I thought at our trackside meeting it was decided by the members that we could not remove the Sedan class to replace with a 1/5 class? The decision was then made to place a roll cage (as the car on show had) on a standard traveller to make the original Speedcars look more modern. In doing this we were achieving a few things, Boosting racing numbers in a dying category and also giving budget racers another class to compete in on limited budget. By the look of things there has now been some second thoughts by some people in relation to the original discussions. I must say I am probably not the only one to have outlaid around $1600.00 to produce this new Speedcar and it looks as though we are not even able to race it. I would have to say these people who have issues should have bought them up before now!!! I would like to see if anyone else shares my views.

I don't know about anyboby else but I think that a vintage midget with a roll cage would look pretty stupid.
It was clearly agreed that we were adding a modern type midget to the vintage class with all cars to be run in the same class.
The car that Ross built was decided on and as I later heard that owner built cars would be allowed if they fitted the specifications.
Are we now saying that this may change?

Bob. I am not saying that they will change i have ask Scott to formally lay down the specs for the rollcage measurement and body material allowed. When the members voted in the the new cars the bodies were plastic and the rollcage was narrower. One month later a car turns up with a alloy bonnet and 5 mm wider rollcage. As of last weds there were still no specs available other than what Scott was telling people on the phone. So I have told Scott that until the specs are discussed and voted on by the DIVISION and not by general vote with 28 day mininum notice of meeting in writing that the new speedcars will not be able to run. In answer to your question re the G240 i bought the matter up with several people and it was decided at the general vote re 240 & 270 that they are excepted in ALL divisions as were 810 pumper carbs on 230 & 260 motors. Please if you have anymore questions please call me. Pete

Hi Peter Thank you for your comments but I am still somewhat confused. I don't want to talk about this on the phone because I believe that the forum is for everybody.
The week after Ross brought out the first prototype he then brought out the second wider car which is the one that people bought and are preparing for the racing season which starts in a couple of weeks not in 28 days.
Is Scotty now going to make up rules for roll cage width, height and thickness which will rule out cars that other people have built, I mean lets get with it. I agree that the car should have a maximum length and width but to get down to rollcage width is ridiculous and is not done for any other class. The car should be built to resemble a modern style midget just as sprintcars are built to resemble a real sprintcar. This leaves room for individualism which is one of the roots of the SSME.
