For all those heading to the Classic in January, the big news is that Danny Smith is heading the entry list. A 6 time winner of the event and another 5 podium finishes, this will be his 1st appeareance in 7 years. His 1st win goes way back to 1983. I think that only Rushie has a better record in this event.

One of the all time greats!Remember his wars with Rushy at TPCR and at the Classic!Fantastic!Interesting the inner section of the wing, knowing Danny probably trick setup to get more downforce made to look like the thing is collapsing.lol.

Even better, he's bringing his own car. Last time he did that it was the 'KENNY ROGERS' Gambler #18. Only Rushie could stay with him on that tour!

Geez PD I remember that #18 Gambler, you remember that #18 Gambler! I reckon that Kenny Rodgers probably doesn't....LOL...it's a real long time ago. BTW.....What ever happened to Gambler Sprintcars. Their website is more about choppers these days. We can recall when they were the car of choice!

I spent a day with Danny many years ago sucking on a KB Gold watching him setup his car for that nights racing at PCR.He was an absolute perfectionist measuring wing position to an 1/8th of an inch and going through the car numerous times to make sure he had not missed anything. He had not!If he had of been given the Karl Kinser ride when he and Steve were the drivers of choice he would probably have Steves record now and Steve would have been a highly thought of journeyman.Lifes choices, amazing.
