G'day gents,
It's been many years since I was involved with 1/4 scale. Last I was involved was the mid to late 90's. It's good to see a few names I remembers from years ago still around and sadly while visiting Penfield recently learnt of the passing of Nobby. I intend to get back out to the club and get reacquainted with the blokes I used to race with.
I'm located in Adelaide and back in the day visited Luddenham and Ararat for racing. Never got to build a Sprinter but hope to change that.
I've been reading with great interest much of the goings on over the years I've been away from the hobby.
Recently while cleaning out the shed I came across some of the left over bits and bobs I have left of my car. Still had a number of lengths of 3/8 tube in the shed rafters as well.
I'm looking to make a return........ Got tires and rims on the way from the States. I've found a good supplier of hiem joints here in Aus at a reasonable price. Still need to track down a bit more information on building a chassis, I have a welding jig that made its way to me that has allowed be to get the two sides of the chassis/cage tacked together. I know many of the older cars were around the 7 1/4" wide but would like to find out what the tend as far as chassis width is now.
I've got a good few hours on the lathe ahead of me to sort out bird changes and hubs as well as a few other bits
ill try to get some pics up of the build as it unfolds.
hope to chat with you soon
