Sad news of the passing of Sir Jack Brabham this morning.
This is a little bit of self indulgence on a meeting with Jack.
Back in 1988, when I was racing 1/10th scale RC sprint cars, our club was asked to put on a "demo" race meeting in Parramatta Park on Australia Day. A track was cut into the grass with a lawn mower and some makeshift barricades put up for safety. At the end of the day, after the Feature race, the organisers surprised the club with Trophies. An even bigger surprise was that they were presented by Sir Jack Brabham. He was very generous with his time and showed tremendous interest in our sprinters and reminded us that he got his start in racing through the dirt track speedways.
