I do not wish to be disrespectful to Jim Waddell from WA... As I have viewed the video a few times and it definitely shows that he was past by N7 NSW 5 times and lapped by more than one lap. So I do not understand how he is the AUSTRALIAN Champion. After the race I spoke to the officials and they said and showed me that I missed the transponder loop once at the beginning of the race and never missed it again , so if the officials could please explain as this is for the Aussie Championship for Quarter Scale Sprint Cars. Please take another chance to review the video as it clearly shows the results of the events of the day....

Hi Vince.
Wow.mate this is not the first time nore will it be the last that the computer hasnt picked up a car/s ,,,there are toooo many factors that can go wrong.
Computers are needed. Im sure you would NOT want to try & count 12 cars every 7 seconds or so for 30 laps. Our transponders can be a problem, but mate what else can we do. Gee look at last year final !!!
We must take the computer as "right" or take human error in counting, I will still take the computer.
Vince it would have needed very driver at race end to over rule the computer.. (then i wasnt there so i dont know if that could have happened )..
Dont loose faith Vince im sure your turn will come.
Laurie Brien.

Hi laurie
I take on board what you are saying. I have been in races when the computer has not picked my transponder up and accepted the results. At the aussie titles in the A main, I knew that I had put laps on the leader and spoke to the official's after the race about it, which they informed me that early in the race my transponder didn't work for one lap but after that, was recorded for every lap. I accepted their decision on the day , but after seeing the video I believe it should be looked into. At the time this video wasn't available to show the race official's, maybe we should look at videoing all A main finals at Australian and state titles ,to eliminate all benefit of a doubt. The technology is there so why not use it to better our hobby.

Wow what a race. I must say Vince you drove like a true champion, lapping the field by 4 laps. It is hard to believe the results have been awarded incorrectly. After watching the video I cant see how the white number 7 car even thought he was in the front? Guys we need to give Vince a round of applause for his awesome achievement, its been a long time coming Vince (Macgyver) and you deserve the win. Even if the results are not sorted Vince you can rest assured in your own mind, you are a winner! On another note, I have been racing RC Cars both Onroad for nearly 10 years and 1/4 Scale Speedway for nearly 8 years. I have never heard of having 3 transponders in a Rc Car or any other race car, go kart or what ever. What race car carries more than 1 transponder? You have to really ask yourself why some cars had more than 1 transponder and why some cars even had them in before others even knew about it? I think we need to get cracking and get our National 1/4 scale speedway rules into place and make sure every track is using the same rules, especially at National and State Title events. National events should have video set up and it should be viewed on the day before results are posted if there is any doubt about the actual finishing positions. I am sure I am not the only person with these views. Just my 2 cents worth

QSAC has this rider on their live stream site.....
"QSAC LIVE is to be used for entertainment purposes only. Under no circumstances will these videos be used for scoring conflicts or aids." Thank you.
QSAC Maybe we should go down that same path.

I would like to thank Les and his team for looking at the video and going back over the race , to cut a long story short , my transponder was giving a very low reading which was not registering on the computer all the time , plus there could of been other factors as well on the day , that affected it . With this information from Les , hopefully the problem be can fixed and it doesn't happen again . Yes it's frustrating to happen at a major event but I'm still very happy to be awarded 3rd place . Overall the weekend was great to be racing against the best in Australia , I look forward to travelling to Perth to contest the Aussie titles and hopefully improve on from where I finished this year . Thanks again Les and your team for looking at this .....

Yes Vince well done keep going as you have come a long way with that new car. Unfortuanly all clubs have there problems with the computer programmes QLD is pretty good now but when someone gets it spot on it will make racing and running meetings easy. Always next time but most important its not worth anything if your not having fun.

That new car Richard is a DEMON sprintcar built by Rob Hodkinson in NSW. As you know we all drive different and it has taken me 12 months of testing and racing to get the car where it is today . Having fun , of course I am. I enjoy travelling to state and Aussie titles , to meet friends new and old , I thoroughly enjoy the social side of racing more than the racing it self , we all have our good and bad days of racing , mine was bad that day , I have learnt from it and hopefully I can make it never happen again , looking forward to the Aussie titles in 2015
