Just arrived back in town from 32 days in the Middle East. While in Northern Jordan, we were taken to the ancient Roman City of Jerash. When we reached this Stadium our guide said... "What do you think this is"? Quick as a flash I replied " Mate ..easy... it's an old dirt track speedway.. problem is... it wasn't built for sprintcars or even midgets. Straights are way too long for the tight corners and there is not enough banking! He looked at me with a bewildered expression and said "Well actually...It is one of the smallest Hippodromes ever built for Chariot racing by the Romans and will only take 5 Chariots in a race, and had seating all the way around for about 5000 people." I shot back.. "With corners like that mate.. I'm not surprised. With larger radius corners you get a field of 20 starters, for a Feature. And..what about the pit area on the infield...way too narrow! At this stage my wife said "Shut up Bob, you're confusing the guide, you idiot" "Right"
