Its a bit of a haul from the gold coast but,i believe it would be worth it, thanks David(ex winged warrior)

Greg, I think at this stage there will be Jeff and I. The SSME/LQSS Christmas party is also on that day. We don't need a lot of members or cars at Camden, just a reasonable presence and display. Speaking with Rod Hod last night at the SSME AGM and he said he would produce some flyers, to distribute amongst the Vintage speedcar members and visiting punters. And a big thanks to Rob for that effort. Having said that, anyone interested in vintage speedway, should make the effort to see this terrific display of midgets, modifieds, bikes and other things speedway.

At this stage I'll be coming along, with my sprintcar and dirtmod. My two girls are too old for the LQSS Christmas party anyway. Be in touch, will contact you closer to the date.

Greg, Mate, I know what you are saying.... we're getting old. When I joined SSME my son was just a boy. He now is 27, married with a baby girl and has his own house.... GEEZ what happened! Look forward to seeing you on the day. Lot's of speedway eye candy there.

A great big thanks to David for hauling his 1/2 scale sprint car from QLD to Camden. MAN... they are huge and weighty. Takes 2 people to lift it out of the back of his station wagon.

We all must thank Bob Jefferson and Jeff Griffith for spending their day at the Camden Show ground/ Vintage Speedway Show with an awesome display.
Every time i looked over they had someone there looking at the 1/4 Scale display asking questions.
Great vintage cars and bikes, many familiar faces there too.
Well Done guys!!

Rob, No worries mate. Jeff and I enjoyed the day. We spoke with lots of punters, as you said and tried to spread as many flyers as we could, to people who seemed to show the slightest interest. It seems by talking with people, most have heard or have been to the Model Park at some stage in the past. Sad thing was, that many thought that it had shut down. Maybe the Park PR needs to be ramped up a notch, especially in the surrounding suburbs. Maybe a matter for the board to discuss! It was a huge day and the Vintage Speedcar Ass boys said it's the best turnout by the public, they can recall.
BTW..Some VSA members even suggested that the Park might be a good spot to gather one Open day. I think that should be explored at Board level as well.

Just checked up on the facts about the 1/2 scale. When I said they are weighty, I wasn't far off....
The sprint car is 35 inches wide, 40 inches tall, and 5 feet long and weighs about 145 pounds or 65 kgs.

I emailed Bryan Lopus today to tell him one of his 1/2 scale sprinters was on display yesterday. I asked about the steering servo, the biggest thing I'd ever seen. He tells me it's a Seiko servo and using a heavy duty 8.4 volt battery pack, will produce
10.5 N・m(107.7kg-cm) in stall torque and cost approx US$300.

I didn't get a comparison photo between the 1/2 and 1/4 scale sprinters on the day at Camden. Went back through my pictures and found this one, that David posted from NZ. This gives an idea of the size difference. Doesn't the 1/4 look tiny!
