I received this from Mark Hogue yesterday. Have a read.
Hi Everyone,
What Terrence and Fred has said is very true. We all must realize that our beloved sport in on the verge of extinction. We all can ignore that fact, and watch this all crumble before our very eyes, or we all can help it to grow and survive. Unless we increase the participation numbers; manufacturers, dealers, tracks, and clubs will all go out of existence. That is happening now all over the country. Our very home track is threatened. We have an opportunity here to make an impression that could develop more new racers. National Speed Sport News has agreed to run a race report for this race, possibly our own article with room for more if we can do it right. This is exactly the exposure our sport needs to make us a legitimate member of the Motorsports community. We are a sub group of real car racing more than traditional RC car racing, but we have to let people know about us.
Just like the old Supernationals in Las Vegas many years ago, we could turn this race into that big of an event with some effort. Hoosier Tire is very interested in our sport and they can add a huge amount of creditability for us, we need to show them that we are serious racers and maybe they will help us more in the future.
Lets not let this chance slip away due to past issues. Politics and infighting has all but killed carpet oval racing and is threatening to do the same to us. We all know there are issues in our sport that need to be resolved, but they will only be resolved by working together and communicating with each other. We all know that the last few of these races were not what everybody had hoped, but we can only make that better by working together. The last few of these were weekday events due to having Tony Stewart attend, which meant that most of you could not come due to work and other commitments. This is the first REAL race there.
To all of you that support WCM and our efforts on behalf of all of the manufacturers and dealers to grow this sport, we need your help. Regardless of what car you run, or what sanctioning body you run with please make every effort to attend this one race. We need you there. If you can only run one national race this year, this should be the one. I would suggest to QSAC that you waive the membership fee for non members for this one race.
I would extend an open invitation to all of our fellow builders, dealers and suppliers to send a banner, flyers, cars, whatever you would like to us at WCM and we will get them displayed for you, and return it to you after the event. We are all competitors, but we are all in this together. We want to beat you on the track, but that can't happen if our sport does not exist anymore.
Please pass this along to everybody you know in Quarter Scale Racing, and lets make this the first of a fresh approach to our sport for all of us.
Best Regards,
Mark Hogue
