Hi Guys
Can anyone advise what size petrol tanks (ie capacity) they are running in there sprintcars please. Also where you normally mount them (ie tail tank, front etc)...Do you use quikfill type systems and if so what works? What is the normal number of laps you would do in a race?
Quick question on the tuned pipe rule. I think it says they must be contained within nerf siderails etc. Does that mean they cannot sit above the nerf siderail? Any pics of what guys are using?
Also what is the normal all up race weight for a sprintcar?
thanks for your help...hoping to get a couple of cars together to come for the Oz Nats in Brisbane.. Is there an Oz National rule book or does each territory have their own and if so what takes preference in Brisbane?

Sparky
If you use the NSW Rules as a guide you are pretty safe.
Tuned pipes there is no rule but it should remain inside of the Nerf bars to help protect it from damage.
Fuel tanks have in the past been kept inside the tail but there is a move here in WA to mount them in the front.

Hi Glen
Thank you for your reply. The luddenham rulebook says exhaust must be contained within the side nerf bars. Currently the one we have comes out and up inside the nerf but the top of it sort of sits higher than the nerf bar. Alongway to come from NZ to have it DQ'd because of that - hence my question.
Can anyone tell me the average number of laps in a race so that i can get a feel for the size of tank required (which really was why i asked)..Can i use a 1/8th tank rather than a big baja style one - or maybe an RC airplane?
Ive been told average cars weigh somewhere from 8 to 10kgs all up race weight. Does that sound reasonable?
I understand people's reluctance to comment about their own specific setups etc but hopefully the above are rather general and some ideas would be forthcoming.
many thanks
Dwayne

Heat races are usually about 10 laps, plus stoppages and re-starts, so you could add another 4 - 5 laps. Feature races are 20 laps and titles 30 laps on the average, plus stoppages and re-starts.Hope this helps Greg #30

500 m tank will do the job from a plain mounted in the tale or in the front 1/8th tank is to small for the number of lap you do in the feture so go as big as you think will let you finish the feture race about 50 laps should be ample

Hi Sparky I did use a 750 ml tank and never ran out of fuel. Better to be safe than sorry !!!!!!! Ps (which was a plastic one with a quick fill but the rubber seal eventually cracked and sucked air through it) hope that helps.

Run the biggest tank you can fit in the car. Half fill it for heats, and filler up for the feature!
