Probably the weirdest car to try and qualify for the Indy 500. The year was 1964.
It was called the Hirst Floor Shift Special. Looks like a cross between a sidecar and a Formula 2.
As it is today....check out the front bumpers. Cool. Driver safety from the left side hadn't been thought right through, I suggest.......
What was builder Smokey Yunick "smoking" when he came up with that idea.
