With Mal Paton's recent 'official' ;D retirement & sale of Tricorp Security, brings to an end one of the most successful quarter scale sprintcar teams in Australia. At one time there were 4 cars running under the Tricorp banner & during the 2004, 2005 seasons won most of the major races around the country. So much so, that some rival competitors ran off & started the 'outlaws' claiming it was getting too professional & was unfair. Personally I'd like too thank Mal, as he has supported me since 2004 & wish him good health & luck in his retirement

Interesting comment Purple, long forgotten, forgive & forget. Im like Steamer & many others here at LQSS unless we know the true storey how do we forgive & forget something we have no idea about? Forgive what? All I know is the sport divided for some reason.I asked Robert in previous postings to let me know the cause of the split, even left my phone# but to no avail. Robert now you have posted how about telling us the storey as you see it, please or you can phone me 47 351225 or 0438440920 many thanks,Ron

gee it would be great to see this all sorted out. I can only say i really enjoyed racing last Oct with everyone in Victoria.
Also i dont know about others but i would rather race against 40 other cars rather than 6-10. How can you be a true champion if many of the best are not included?

Anyway, let's get back onto the original topic of this thread, Mal's finally retiring!
When I indicated that I was going to come to the 2006 Australian Title at LQSS, whether my car would come with me or not, Mal stepped in and offered me his sprintcar. Then, when I crashed it and broke the steering on the first day, he let me run the sedan for the NSW title on the Sunday. The NSW #1 trophy still proudly sits on top of our wine rack with all the other 1/4 scale medals I've managed to collect over the years.
Mum & I would like to wish Mal the very best for his retirement.

Mal also supplied the 4wd suzuki + trailer & water tank. He was also responsible for the erecting of the flood lighting & cyclone safety fence.

Have a good retirement Mal (thought you retired years ago lol). You have been a great supporter of many young people over the years and brought much credit to the Tricorp Seurity brand.
