You just gotta admire the town of Knoxville Iowa. They love their sprintcar racing......they'd have to..... check out these numbers...
The race was scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, but was actually completed at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. Just before hot laps were set to begin, a heavy rain shower popped up over the speedway and produced about 45 minutes worth of rain. That set off a four-hour delay while track crews worked on the wet, muddy surface. Time trials for the night’s 50 competitors began at 11:22 p.m.
Shite...it sounds a lot like..... Warrnambool VIC Australia

You would of thought everyone would of headed home but by all reports the crowded stayed for the whole show.
Proof that speedway fans are dedicated to the sport in the US.
Extra information
1. Garry Brazier knocked 3 seconds of Brooke Tatnell's 10 lap track record in heat 1.
2. Unofficial time was that Donny Schatz may of also knocked off the 1 lap track record in the b-main also set by Brooke Tatnell

I remember a show at warrnambool many years ago where Rushy and Bob Aysom went out to check if the track was raceable at about 11pm.We loaded Tunksies (Bob) car in the truck at 4am.Weren't there some short tempers that night.Rain and sprintcars two things that should be kept far ,far apart.Worse was a trip to Qld which washed out, left car there drove back the following week to wash out again.Long trip home that one.
