Kristen has been coming to Luddenham for a number of years now, however she has never been able to have her own car with her. This time that all changed. With a lot of nagging, some cajoling and a fair dump of bullshite, she manged to get her sprintcar on a plane as checked luggage and get it to Sydney. Ah.. not before they made her remove the tailtank....there may have been a hint of fuel..anyway off it came. Thanks to Virgin Airlines her BJ Racewing, no longer resembled a wing ..thanks Virgin... Branson will get my bill... With an old tank of mine, in an old tail of mine, we manged to get the thing into the car with cable ties. An old wing, in better nick than Kristens was stuck on top of the car. This wing was not bad as it hadn't flown Virgin.... The car was beset with gremlins etc however she did get around the track...something she has wanted to do for a very long time...She'll be back...with her sprintcar ..although maybe not with Virgin. Thanks for all the effort babe! Here's the proof that you finally got a car to run at LQSS.[/color]

It's always a pleasure to see Miss Smith at LQSS. Hopefully she can come back with a sprintcar next season and complete 2 laps or more

As if the drama trying to get the car on the plane to Sydney wasn't bad enough, when I arrived at Adelaide Airport on Tuesday night, only one of two bags was on the carousel. Thankfully, it was the suitcase with my clothes that went missing and not the car. I think the poor baggagge staff at Qantas would have been deaf on Wednesday if it was the other way around! Yes.. I said Qantas.. Anyway the bag was returned to me Wednesday afternoon, with a bag tag of QF661 attached to it. That's Brisbane - Adelaide.
Thanks & congratulations to everyone who was at the track on Saturday & Sunday A special thankyou to BJ for all his hard work on Friday night and Saturday, and also the millions of phone calls it took to get approval from Qantas in the first place. I couldn't have done it without you mate.
As you can tell by the photos that Bob and Sharyn have put up, the car wasn't exactly aesthetically pleasing as I had planned. Ran out of time. Anyway, I still agree with William when he says it's a fine looking car as people from all over the country have helped to see it out on the track. Thanks to Robert Coombs, John Cooper, Les Blechynden, Bob Jeffreson and especially Dave Smith for all their hard work, effort & spare parts.
This won't be the last you see of the pink #56 car. Dad & I will sort out all the bugs and I'll be back to do it all over again.
The joys of racing 1/4 scale sprintcars! ;D
